Apologies for the delay in updating gnome-shell and cinnamon themes. I have a few lame excuses:
1: Lazy
2: elementary and its pantheon desktop has been my daily driver for a while
3: Doing DIY stuff in our flat
4: My Mint 15 install decided to one day not accept my user login password and the old "drop to root prompt" from grub now prevents easily resetting the password. Also I'm not so keen on Mint, it's brilliant at what it does but aggravates my aesthetic OCD.
5: Fedora 19 makes my laptop noisy and overheated to the point where I get worried and all I can think about is to quickly log out and return to elementary.
When I have a working install of something that runs gnome-shell under Gnome 3.8 without hurting my laptop, I'll start updating Tyr! I'll try Ubuntu Gnome (saucy) next.

Dang, nailed the freeze down to a bad shell extension.
Tip: If your shell ever freezes, you can reload / troubleshoot with the following:
1. Shell in from another machine
2. type `DISPLAY=:0 gnome-shell --replace &`
3. you can safely enter commands with the replacement shell running in bg, but every status change gets dumped to the standard output.
